Whitey's Fishing Hole has been Marrero's neighborhood bar since the 1950's. Though it was known by many names throughout the years, Whitey's has remained a staple in the community for thirsty patrons. Originally, the bar only served canned beer but has since grown in size and selection, now offering domestic and local beers, imports and liquor.
Several of the current customers tell stories of coming to the pub as children, accompanying their fathers or riding their bikes to pick up beers to take home, with a note from Dad to let the bartender know it was okay. A bit different than today! Many also had their first drink at Whitey's when they were old enough and continue to come through the doors. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly service keep the clientele happy, ensuring that no one gets dehydrated at Whitey's.
Tucked behind West Jefferson hospital, this hidden gem is not to be missed on your next trip to the Westbank of New Orleans. There is no sign, so look carefully for the neon bar lights, picnic tables and porch swing.
Bikes are welcome to park in the paved driveway beside the pub and can join us for Bike Night every Thursday, with drink specials, $12 Ribeye Steaks with all the fixin's and karaoke. The party goes all night! Other highlights include Food Truck Fridays, weekly pool tournaments and DJ/karaoke twice a week.
It's truly the friendly service and loyal customers that sets Whitey's apart. You'll always feel at home here and we make it a point to greet all who walk through the door so that everyone feels like family!
